Project description:

The main purpose of the system is collision avoidance, maritime and ecological safety monitoring in unpredictable weather conditions with heavy rains, fogs and icebergs.

Low visibility makes it critical to have precise data and 24/7 availability of the system. Sea Surveillance iVTMS system proves excellent functioning and constant availability in heavy weather conditions.

This multi-radar system includes six radars: three X-band radars are used for oil spill detection, ice detection and collision avoidance and three S-band radars are used for collision avoidance. The system combines information received from radars and AIS. The information from all the sensors is merged in one traffic picture.

Since rational use of space is critical for oil platforms, all equipment is installed in one equipment cabinet.

iVTMS system was used for the Hebron oil platform's journey to its drilling site on Newfoundland's Grand Banks.
